The Art of the Record is a documentary about the emotional, cultural, and artistic life held within vinyl records at a time when music, memory, and much of who we are drifts into a digital cloud.

The film follows one song from its first uncertain moments in a recording studio to the hands of a listener. Along the way, musicians, engineers, designers, printers, pressing plant technicians, record store owners, collectors, audiophiles, and listening communities reveal the human touch behind every record revealing the true meaning of the physical object.

This is not simply a film about vinyl. It is a film about our need for physical experience. A record carries music, but it also carries artwork, ritual, memory, identity, and the evidence that someone made it with care.
